How it works:
The exhibit shows chaotic movement of particles in liquid or gas environments, so-called Brownian motion. Under a see-through cover, there’s a board and a set of marbles. The marbles are set in motion by an irregular mechanism, and commonly occuring impacts between the marbles ensure that the movement is of a strictly chaotic nature.
How it’s made:
The exhibit stands on a 850 mm tall plinth, made from lacquered MDF. The board for marbles has dimensions of 350×350 mm. Around it is the mechanism, under a steel cover and the see-through cover for the whole set. The exhibit is also equipped with a button for turning the mechanism on.
